On August 10, 2024, Soroptimist International of Woodland (SIW) had the honor of supporting our community at the Salvation Army back to school event held at JC Penny’s in Woodland. The Salvation Army gave 80 children $120 each to purchase clothing items at the store.
Shoes are essential when returning to school and were not a part of the Salvation Army donation. Woodland Police Activities League provided shoes for 67 students in the Woodland Joint Unified Schools District. Winters Police Department provided shoes for three students in their school district. This left ten students in Yolo County schools who were still in need of shoes. SIW sponsored these ten students from Esparto and Knights Landing providing them each with a brand new pair of shoes.
The smiles on these kids made it all worthwhile.
